Your licence

PingTray is licensed, not sold. Your use of it is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement — the standard EULA that applies to apps on the App Store:

Purchases and restoring them

Custom Hosts is a one-time purchase that unlocks monitoring of your own hosts. It is tied to the Apple ID that bought it, so it restores on any Mac you sign in with — use the Restore Purchases button in Settings. All payments are handled by Apple; we never see your card details. Refunds are Apple's to give, through the App Store, not something we can process for you.

What PingTray promises, and what it doesn't

PingTray reports what it observes: whether a connection succeeded, how long it took, and whether a paired Mac has checked in recently. It cannot guarantee delivery of an alert — a notification depends on your network, on Apple's push service, and on the Mac still being able to speak at all. Please don't use it as the only alarm on something where a missed outage would be costly.

Acceptable use

Monitor hosts you own or have permission to monitor. PingTray opens ordinary TCP connections on port 443 at a modest interval; do not use it to probe systems that are not yours, and do not attempt to defeat the checks that keep our reporting service fair to everyone using it.
